Phonics: Spelling pattern for the week is r controlled /ar/. Words will be spelled with air, ear, and are. Here are the words to study: blare, hair, bear, flare, wear, pair, repair, cherry, barely, fairly. Remember that challenge words will be different words that but contain the /ar/ patterns.
Reading: Our reading skill is inferences. An inference uses information from the text and what you already know in order to come up with a new understanding about a topic.

Writing: We will have been researching topics for an informational book. Students have picked their own topic and gathered notes to produce an informational book independently. We will work on organizing our information to put into a final copy/book.
Math: We are reviewing standard units of measurement like inches, feet, and yards. We will also reviewmetric units like centimeters and meters. Our standard has the students comparing lengths using different units as well as solving words problems using measurement.
Social Studies: Our next Georgia hero is James Oglethorpe. We will learn about how he founded Georgia and started our first colony, Savannah.
