2nd Grade Play will be March 16

Phonics: This week we will be focusing on irregular plural words; words that change spelling completely as they go from singular to plural or they do not change spelling at all. The spelling words for the week are: sheep, deer, tooth, woman, dozen, traffic, moose, goose, ox, fish. High Frequency words are almost, animal, every, few, group, might, school.

Grammar: We will be practicing more with producing, expanding and rearranging sentences. Can students produce a sentence with a subject and verb then add a conjunction to it. Finally we are looking to see if students can rearrange their sentence. For example: The dog ran down the hill because he wanted his frisbee. --> Since the dog wanted his frisbee he ran down the hill.

Reading: We will be learning how we can make inferences and predictions about what we are reading. Using clues from what we read to make them.

Writing: The students will continue to write persuasive letters this week to showcase their opinions. The students will be deciding on a topic, learning the parts of a friendly letter and doing their best to persuade another person on that topic. We will be working on editing and revising the letters as well and focusing on how to make them better.

Math: This week we will be looking at the relationship between subtraction and addition- learning that they are the inverse of each other. We will use fact families and missing add-in to explore the relationship.

Science: The students will be working on a project with a partner this week to show what they know. The students are producing something of their choice to show what they have learned about either the sun, stars, or moon. Students will be working on the projects in the Learning Commons.
