Important Reminders:

-If you have any dried up markers or caps, please send them in with your child. We send those off to be recycled.

Phonics: This week we will be continuing to look at the words with prefixes. We will be focusing on the prefix -dis in spelling as well as reading to discuss how they change the meaning of words.

Spelling words for the week: order, disorder, agree, disagree, obey, disobey, trust, distrust, honest, dishonest, grace, disgrace, appear, disappear

High Frequency words: being, family, miss, plant, until, well

Grammar: This week we will review suffixes and prefixes.

Reading: Our reading focus this week is determining author's purpose. Why did they write it? To inform, persuade, or entertain us?

Writing: This nine weeks will be reviewing narrative, informational, and persuasive genres in our writing. The students will also be working on a writing portfolio to go with them to 3rd grade with all three writing pieces in it and also to share with you at our Author's breakfast.

Math: This week we will be reviewing adding and subtracting 3 digit numbers. Students are learning how to use the stacking strategy. (The good ole strategy we all know and love :))

Science: We will be continuing on learning about life cycles of plants! We will also be having our STEM day on Thursday this week where we will get to apply our knowledge of what we know about life cycles.
