Grammar: This week we will be working on nouns vs. proper nouns.The important thing to remember is that common nouns are general names. Thus, they are not capitalized unless they begin a sentence or are part of a title. Proper nouns, those that name specific things, do require capitalization
Reading: Our reading focus this week is learning strategies to become a better reader and what do good readers do. We will continue building reading stamina and rolling out the Daily 5 model.
Writing: We are working on learning the parts of a sentence this week and where writers get their good ideas.
Math: This week we will be discussing place value. How can we represent numbers with base ten blocks. How can we show numbers using words. How do you expand a number and what is standard form.
Science: We will be learning about why shadows change length throughout the day and the difference between day and night and seasons.
