Grammar: This week we will be working on nouns vs. proper nouns. The important thing to remember is that common nouns are general names. Thus, they are not capitalized unless they begin a sentence or are part of a title. Proper nouns, those that name specific things, do require capitalization

Reading: Our reading focus this week is learning strategies to become a better reader and what do good readers do. We will continue building reading stamina and rolling out the Daily 5 model.

Writing: We are working on learning the parts of a sentence this week and where writers get their good ideas.

Math: This week we will be discussing place value. How can we represent numbers with base ten blocks. How can we show numbers using words. How do you expand a number and what is standard form.

Science: We will be learning about why shadows change length throughout the day and the difference between day and night and seasons.
