Grammar: This week's focus will be on Reflexive Pronouns. A reflexive pronoun indicates that the person who is realizing the action of the verb is also the recipient of the action. While this might seem strange at first glance, the following examples of reflexive pronouns and the accompanying list of reflexive pronouns will help you gain thorough understanding. In fact, you will probably notice that you yourself use reflexive pronouns frequently when speaking or writing.Examples of Reflexive Pronouns: I was in a hurry, so I washed the car myself. You’re going to have to drive yourself to school today.

Spelling: Spelling this week will focus on short o words. Here is the regular word list: brook, push, pull, bush, look, full, bully, bookshop, seagull. The high frequency words are 2nd grade words that need to be spelled correctly when writing. They are: away, got, head, later, leave, read, saw. Some students have a modified list: brook, look, took, bush, push, mush, mushy. The sight words they should practice are: away, read, got.

Reading: We will be focusing on making inferences. Making an inference involves using what you know to make a guess about what you don't know, or reading between the lines. Readers who make inferences use the clues in the text along with their own experiences to help them figure out what is not directly said, making the text personal and memorable

Writing: This 9 weeks focus will be Informational Writing. Informational writing is a type of nonfiction writing that conveys information about something, which means it is factual. Many examples of informational writing can be found in newspapers, almanacs, and reference books.Another difference between informational writing and other forms of nonfiction is that it does not involve characters. Informational writing does not generally focus on a person's life in the way a biography does. Instead, it usually provides information about the natural or social world . This week students will be finishing their informational writing piece.

Math: Our focus this week will adding and subtraction with measurement. We will also focus on labeling the problem with correct measurement and also answering the question with a complete sentence.

Social Studies: This week's focus will be on Goods, Services, and Allocations. Goods are items that are tangible, such as pens, salt, shoes, hats and folders and Services are activities provided by other people, such as doctors, lawn care workers, dentists, barbers, waiters, or online servers. The student's will also learn how goods and services are allocated (by price, majority rule, contest, force, sharing, lottery, command, first-come, first-served, personal characteristics).
