Georgia Parent Survey

All Davis parents are asked to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey. It contains 24 questions and can be completed using a computer, smartphone, or tablet. Information from this survey will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating which is a part of the Davis Elementary CCRPI score. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education. Parents may select a Spanish version also. The staff of Davis Elementary thanks you for your participation in this valuable feedback for our school. Please see the link below:

Grammar: We will continue focusing on producing, expanding, and rearranging complete simple and compound sentences (e.g., The boy watched the movie; The little boy watched the movie; The action movie was watched by the little boy)

Spelling: There will be no spelling or high frequency words this week. Also, no spelling test. Please continue to follow the homework sheet.

Reading: We will focus on Fairy tales this week. A fairy tale is a type of short story that typically features folkloric fantasy characters, such as dwarfs, dragons, elves, fairies, giants, gnomes, goblins, griffins, mermaids, talking animals, trolls, unicorns, or witches, and usually magic or enchantments. We will continue learning how to identify the central message, lesson, moral, and point of view of a story. We will also compare and contrast story elements such as characters, settings, and events.

Writing: This 9 weeks focus will be Opinion Writing. The purpose of an opinion piece is to convince your audience to agree with your opinion. Introduce the topic or issue. State your opinion clearly. Give more than one reason to support your opinion. We will continue working on our opinion pieces.

Math: Our focus will continue to be on solving 1 and 2 step word problems. We will work on identifying the start, change, and results of the problems. We will also work on different strategies to solve word problems.

Science: Our focus for Science this week will be on the Stars. We will be learning the physical attributes of stars. We will also be doing fun Star Stations later this week.
