Grammar: We will continue focusing on past tense verbs and irregular past tense verbs. Past tense verbs refer to actions or events in the past. They can be regular verbs that simply end with a "d" or an "ed" or they can be irregular and change their spelling to show the past tense.
Spelling: Spelling this week will focus on -un-prefix. Here is the regular list: unfair, unhappy, unload, unfold, unafraid, unlikely. The high frequency words are 2nd grade words that need to be spelled correctly when writing. They are: feet, mother, own, really, saw, stop, try. Some students have a modified list: unfair, unhappy, unload, unfold, unwell, unclip, unsafe. The sight words they should practice own, mother, really.
Reading: We will continue focusing on inferencing and drawing conclusions. An inference is an idea or conclusion that's drawn from evidence and reasoning. An inference is an educated guess. We learn about some things by experiencing them first-hand, but we gain other knowledge by inference — the process of inferring things based on what is already known
Writing: This 9 weeks we will be working all three genres of writing: Narrative, Opinion, and Informational. At this time we are working on narrative writing.
Math: We will be working on identifying 2D shapes and learning their attributes. '2D' stands for 2-dimensional. A 2D shape is any shape that has two dimensions. A 2D shape is a shape with only two dimensions (such as width and height) and no thickness. Squares, Circles, Triangles, etc are two dimensional objects
Social Studies: We will continue focusing on saving and spending and also scarcity these next two weeks. We will be incorporating Kid Town for the two weeks where the kids earn money to save or spend at our kid town day on April 20th.
