Exciting Information for Earth Week

At Home STEM challenge for Earth Week:

Students are encouraged to create a unique birdhouse to enter into our STEM Challenge Contest. This is a week long challenge. We will choose 3 winners from the following categories: K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. Winners will receive a STEM surprise! They are to create a birdhouse that fits the needs of a cardinal. Mr. Hanft attached a website that shows details of what a cardinal specific birdhouse needs. We want you to follow the overall look but make your birdhouse unique in some way (material, style, etc.)

Birdhouse Creation Must Be:

• 7-8 inches in height and depth

• One side is open

• Creative Design (paint it, or build it to look unique!)

• Sustainable (The winner’s boxes will be placed outside so make sure it can withstand weather elements.)

Weekday Theme Day Ideas:

Monday ~ Wear Davis Spirit Wear

Tuesday ~ Safari/Camo Day

Wednesday ~ Dress as a bug

Thursday ~ Create a hair piece or hat out of recycled materials (students make these at home)

Friday ~ Teachers wear STEM shirts; students wear green and Field Day type outdoor wear
