Grammar: We will review common, proper, singular, and plural nouns that we covered this 9 weeks.
Spelling: We will be working on words that have initial S blends. Initial S blends are 2 consonants blending together at the beginning of the word. You can still hear each sound the word . You can practice at home by giving your student phrases and sentences to practice. You say the sentence, have the student repeat, then pound their hand for each word they hear as they repeat with you again, then have them write. Check for capital at the beginning of the sentence, stretch the words, space the words, and punctuation at the end. Green Words: split, scrap, sprig, shred, strap, scruff, squid, sled, swell, smash, sniff, stress. Nonsense Words: stip, splog, snup, shrim, scrud, smat, sproff, squit, stret Red Words: would, your, does, two, like.
Reading: We will focus this week on context clues. Context Clues are hints that the author gives to help define a difficult or unusual word. The clue may appear within the same sentence as the word to which it refers, or it may follow in a preceding sentence.
Writing: This 9 weeks we will finish up on narrative writing.
Math: We will finish collecting data and creating graphs to show results and share information. We also review what we have learned this 9 weeks.
Social Studies: This week's focus will continue on The Creek and Cherokee Native Americans. We will learn how they adapted to their environments, which tools they used, which Georgia region they lived in, what they grew on their land, what type of clothing they used, and the homes that they lived in.
