Georgia Parent Survey

All Davis parents are asked to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey. It contains 24 questions and can be completed using a computer, smartphone, or tablet. Information from this survey will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating which is a part of the Davis Elementary CCRPI score. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education. Parents may select a Spanish version also. Grammar: We will be working on adjectives this week. Adjectives are words we use to describe the noun. Simple words like "warm" and "fat" are adjectives commonly used in writing.

Spelling: We will be working on words that have sounds of Y. The different sounds of y are consonant, long i, long e, and short i. You can practice at home by giving your student phrases and sentences to practice. You say the sentence, have the student repeat, then pound their hand for each word they hear as they repeat with you again, then have them write. Check for capital at the beginning of the sentence, stretch the words, space the words, and punctuation at the end. Green Words: y=consonant: yarn, yellow, young, yank. y=long i: fry, try, reply, shy. y=long e: navy, slimy, funny, hazy. y=short i: gym, system, mystic, myth. Red Words: laugh, myself, often, only, together

Reading: We will be working on the 5 w's. The 5 w's and one H (Who, What, When, Where, Why & How) or the Six w's are questions whose answers are considered basic in information-gathering.

Writing: This week we will discuss New Year's resolution and write about our resolutions for 2019.

Math: We will working on place value this week. We will be showing numbers in different forms. Ex: expanded form, standard form, word form, and base ten blocks.

Health: This week will be learning about our teeth and how to take care of them.
