Our 2018-2019 Awards Day will be held on Wednesday, May 15th.

The K-2nd time is 8:00 am- 8:50 am.

The 3rd-5th time is 9:00 am- 9:50 am.

Parents of students who are being recognized will be notified.

May 21st & May 22nd-Early Release 12:30. No backpacks the last two days of school.

Grammar: We will be finishing up this year with reviewing proper nouns. Proper nouns have two distinct features: They name specific one-of-a-kind items, and they begin with capital letters, no matter where they occur within a sentence.

Spelling: The spelling words this week will be le words. You can practice at home by giving your student phrases and sentences to practice. You say the sentence, have the student repeat, then pound their hand for each word they hear as they repeat with you again, then have them write. Check for capital at the beginning of the sentence, stretch the words, space the words, and punctuation at the end. Green Words: handle, bottle, cradle, humble, middle, title, simple, bubble, noble, tremble, saddle, bugle, jungle, settle, table Red Words: learn, better, never, best, find

Reading: We will be learning about cause and effect through pictures and text. In a cause and effect relationship, one event causes another to happen. The cause is why it happened, and the effect is what happened

Writing: This 9 weeks is going to be a mixture of narrative, informational, and opinion. We will be working on this week our Opinion writing. They will have several topics to chose from.

Math: This week we will continue working on word problems with money. Please practice at home counting money and making change.

Science: We will be learning this week Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of the United States. Jimmy Carter is known for being president during a time of high inflation and rising energy costs. He is also known for being the first president from the Deep South in over 100 years. He was born right here in Georgia.
