Grammar: We will continue learning this week about Suffixes. Suffixes is a letter or a group of letters that is usually added onto the end of words, to change the way a word fits into a sentence grammatically.

Spelling: The spelling words will be the same as last week. We will be working on oo words. oo words have two sounds. oo as in zoo and oo as in good. You can practice at home by giving your student phrases and sentences to practice. You say the sentence, have the student repeat, then pound their hand for each word they hear as they repeat with you again, then have them write. Check for capital at the beginning of the sentence, stretch the words, space the words, and punctuation at the end. Green Words: oo as in zoo: too, coop, moon, booth, noodle, room, pool, broom. oo as in good: cook, hood, took, wool, wood, foot, shook, woof. Red Words: was, would, does, your

Reading: We will be working on the main idea of a story. The main idea is the point of the paragraph. It is the most important thought about the topic. The author can locate the main idea in different places within a paragraph. The main idea is usually a sentence, and it is usually the first sentence. The writer then uses the rest of the paragraph to support the main idea

Writing: This 9 weeks is going to be a mixture of narrative, informational, and opinion. We will be working on creating a fairy tale this week. We will review what a fairy tale is and discuss the beginning, middle, and end. We will also be discussing transition words, a hook, and a closing.

Math: This week we will be learning about 3D shapes and their attributes? 3D shapes are solid objects that have three dimensions. These dimensions are length, width, and height. While 2D shapes are flat, 3D shapes objects that have depth to them. A soccer ball is a 3D shape, also known as a sphere, while a circle on a piece of paper is a 2D shape.

Science: We will be learning about how seeds are dispersed. Before a seed grows into a new plant, seeds need to leave the seed pod. The main methods plants use to disperse their seeds to places with better growing conditions than directly under the parent plant include gravity, animals, force, wind and water.
